Bhubaneswar, Sep 29:
Nearly1500 non-resident Odias (NRO) will throng the city in December to attend a Global Odia Conclave to be organized by Odisha Without Border (OWB), an apex body of organizations striving to promote the interest of Odias and Odisha.
OWB, an umbrella organization of various associations of NROs residing in different parts of India and abroad, aims at bringing investments to the state.
Besides overall development of the state, OWB aims at contributing to social, cultural and intellectual progress in the state. OWB also plans to open an incubation centre for promoting entrepreneurship and undertake skill development activities for the semi-skilled and unskilled labourers working in unorganized sectors.
“We have urged chief minister Naveen Patnaik to open a new department to be named Non-Resident Odias and pressed for construction of an Odisha Bhawan in Bangalore”, said Pranab Kumar Pani, chief spokes person, OWB at a press conference here.
“We are planning to undertake various developmental projects in sectors like science and technology, infrastructure, healthcare and education in the state with a commitment to complete such projects in disciplined, structured and time-bound manner”, he added. ( SPM )
