The 12th edition of National Kharavela Festival, being organized by KN Memorial Foundation, Bhubaneswar in association with the Departments of Tourism and Culture and Panchayati Raj, Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC), Song & Drama Division, Kolkata, Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR), Cuttack and Travel, Hotel & Restaurant Association of Odisha (THRAO), will start from February 6 this year at Khandagiri hills.
The mega festival will continue till February 9.
The festival would promote and market the tourism and cultural potential of Odisha. Eminent personalities and researchers will grace the event every evening, the organisers informed.
Sand art on varied themes and food courts showcasing the best Odia cuisines will be an added attraction for the visitors.
More than 20 stalls will be opened at the exhibition at National Kharavela Festival to provide an outlet to entrepreneurs for promotion of their products. Merry Go-Rounds and other entertainment activities will be organized for the children and youngsters at the festival site, informed the chief organiser Dillip Kumar Nanda at press meet here on Sunday.
Each evening, eminent artistes and cultural troupes of national and international repute from the state and across the country will perform classical dances like Odissi, Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi & Kathak, he said.
The folk dance groups are expected from as many as 14 states: Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Maharashtra, West Bengal, Punjab, Jammu & Kashmir, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and Andhra Pradesh.
Around 600 artists will perform during National Kharavela Festival, Nanda added.
