12 more ITIs to be set up in state

The Odisha government today decided to set up 12 more Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the state, of which five would be set up under the Kushali Vikas Yojana (KVY) of the Central government and the rest by the state government.

itiBriefing media persons after a review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today, Minister for Technical Education and Training Pratap Keshari Dev said a decision was also taken at the meeting to increase the intake in ITIs of the state from the present 9, 936 to 46, 280 by the end of the 12th Plan in 2016-17.

The state at present has a total of 632 ITIs of which 603 have been set up by private educational institutions and 29 by the state government, the Minister said adding ITIs would be set up in all 98 blocks where there is none at present.
