At least 12 people were injured, four of them seriously, when a gas cylinder went off at the Kalinga Baliyatra festival ground at Paradip in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district on Saturday night.
According to reports, a vendor was inflating balloons with gas from a cylinder at the venue when it suddenly blew up.
While 12 people were injured in the blast, four of them sustained grievous injuries. A minor boy, who was present at the spot, lost his palm which was severed under the impact of the blast.
The four seriously injured persons were shifted to the SCB Medical College and Hospital at Cuttack where their condition was stated to be critical, police said.
