Four women hockey players from Odisha found place in the 18-member National Women’s Hockey team announced by Hockey India on Sunday for training and test matches to be held from December 1 to 12 in Rome, Italy.
Deep Grace Ekka, Sunita Lakra, Namita Toppo and Lilima Minz are the four Odisha players selected in the national team.
This tour is in preparation for the World Hockey League Round 2.
Hockey India selectors Surinder Kaur, Harvinder Singh, Mamta Kharab, Roelant Oltmans, Director High Performance, Neil Hawgood, Chief Coach and NS Saini, Coach selected the list on the basis of the selection trials conducted at SAI centre, Bhopal on November 19 and 20.
The 18-member team is looking forward to repeat the success of the Incheon Asian Games 2014 where the team clinched a bronze medal.
The team will be captained by midfielder Ritu Rani, supported by midfielder Deepika as the Vice-Captain.
