Youths confess to killing woman, her sons in Odisha for suspected witchcraft

Rairangpur: Two days after decomposed bodies of two minor boys who had gone missing since Tuesday was found from a forest near Jhipabandha village under Badampahar police limits in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district on Friday their mother’s body was found from the same forest in a decomposed state today.

According to police sources, the two youths detained by the police in this connection have confessed to the crime suspecting the woman to be a witch.

According to police sources, Rinku Sinku (35), Jagannath Sinku (10) and Jashobant (3) respectively wife and sons of Madhusudan Sinku of Jhipabandha village had gone missing since Tuesday.

While decomposed bodies of the minor boys were found with deep wounds on their necks by the police from the forest on the banks of river Jalpa near Jhipabandha village on Friday, the body of their mother Rinku Sinku was found from the same forest in a similar state today by the police.

Madhusudan’s wife Rinku with her two sons on Tuesday last had gone on a visit to her parents in Raipada to fetch rice. Though they had left Raipada at 5 PM in the evening and did not reach their home till late in the night, Madhusudan had lodged a report with the Badampahar police of them going missing, police sources added.

On Friday with foul smell emanating from the forest along the banks of river Jalpa, locals who ventured into the forest out of curiosity found the bodies of the minor boys lying there.

Following the discovery, police reached the spot and seized the bodies.
