The incident came to light after Ashok Nayak, brother-in-law of the deceased lodged a complaint at the local police station. Acting on the complaint, police have registered a case number (89/2015) slapping charges under sections 302 and 34 of IPC against the accused.

According to Chandaka police sources, the deceased, identified as Prasanta Parida, a resident of Madhupur village, was today assaulted at Gothapatna Chhak by six persons following a quarrel between them over parking of a motorcycle.

In the report, it has been alleged that Prasanta, who had gone for shopping, had parked his motorcycle in front of a shop at Gothapatna when another person, identified as Batu Sunderay, too parked his bike at the same spot.

Both entered into a heated argument following which Batu along with Dipu Sunderay, Papu Sunderay and three other associates attacked Prasanta causing bleeding injury on his head and fled from the spot.

Prasanta was immediately shifted to the nearby Mendhasala Hospital from where he was referred to Capital Hospital here for treatment after his condition deteriorated.

On his way to the Hospital, Prasanta succumbed to his injuries and was declared brought dead at Capital Hospital.

Police said steps are being taken to apprehend the accused persons, who fled the spot immediately after the incident.

“As the deceased and accused persons belong to separate villages and tension has risen among the locals, police is alert to maintain law and order in the locality,” informed a senior police official of Chandaka police station.
