The victim identified as Rajaram Nayak, who was working as a painting worker in the city, was attacked by a group of men over parking of a two-wheeler.

As per eyewitnesses, a group of around 15 attacked Rajaram last night injuring him and one of his friends grievously. A few days back, they had an altercation with Rajaram over parking of a vehicle. Following this, these two groups of the neighbouring slums had a fight.

‘‘Yesterday night, some people came and asked me for the keys to the bike. I did give them the keys. But they beat up Rajaram,’’ a relative of the deceased said.

‘‘They were a group. They first beat him up and then later attacked him with a sharp weapon. We were indoors when Rajaram came to us seeking help. He was bleeding profusely,’’ Rajaram’s neighbour in Tarini Basti said.

He was first rushed to Capital Hospital here and later rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, a case of unnatural death has been registered and police have detained four suspects for questioning.

‘‘Two groups from Salia Sahi had some dispute over parking of a bike and both the sides had filed cases against each other. Last night, a group from one of the slums attacked the victim who succumbed to his injuries in hospital. Police have been deployed in Salia Sahi and four suspects have been rounded up for questioning. Other culprits will be arrested after details are gathered from further interrogation of the suspects,’’ twin city commissioner R P Sharma said.
