Koraput, Aug 1
A young woman Maoist cadre Neela Nachika alias Sabita surrendered before the DIG of police(SWR) and the SP of Koraput Thursday. An armed cadre of the Srikakulam-Koraput Joint Divisional Committee Sabita joined the CPI-Maoist five years ago and is allegedly involved in five cases of murder. In 2009 she had undergone weapon training in the jungles of Narayanpatna before joining top Maoist leaders Daya and Aruna.
Police sources said Sabita decided to quit the party and join the mainstream after she was disenchanted with its functioning .She told the police utter discrimination and the dictatorial attitude of the Telugu speaking cadres had fanned discontent among the local tribal militia who were used only to carry out cold blooded murders of contractors and poor villagers who were not in agreement with the Maoists. She also alleged the Chattisgarhi cadres were harassing and teasing local cadres, especially tribal girls.
