Sundargarh, Nov 24:
A woman was allegedly killed by a contract killer hired by her husband in Odisha’s Sundargarh district for being antagonistic to spouse’s extramarital affair.
The incident came to light on Wednesday after 22 days the crime took place.
Sundargarh police arrested the accused husband yesterday and interrogated two other accomplices. However, the supari killer was on run.
According to reports, Gubai Munda of Badjal village had been married to Mengala Munda for ten years. However, Mengala had an illicit relation with his ex-lover and he was no way ready to put an end to the affair despite regular opposition of his wife Gubai which was leading to awful fights between the two.
The accused with his lover hatched a conspiracy to sweep away the hitch forever and hired Rathu Munda with a contract of Rs 4000 to kill the victim with Rs 2000 advance payment.
The stratagem was executed on November 1. Rathu went to Mengala’s house and killed Gubai by tying a wire tightly around her throat which was noticed by her eight-year-old son and the boy ran away into forest as the killer chased to murder him too.
Police started investigation into the incident after the victim’s elder sister registered a case yesterday with Lahunipara Police Station.
A scientific team from Rourkela reached the spot to accelerate the investigation process and the remains of the body have been recovered from grave.
