Rourkela, July 20:
A 26-year old woman of Raikela village under Barsuan forest range in Odisha’s Sundargarh district was killed when a portion of a wall of her house, pushed by a herd of wild elephants, fell on her late on Sunday night.
However, her 10-month old daughter had a miraculous escape.
The deceased has been identified as Muni Nayak.
The incident took place at about 12.30 AM, sources said.
The elephants later damaged three other houses in the village.
Following information, a team of Forest staff, led by Ramesh Majhi, Barsuan Range Officer rushed to the village and sent the body for post mortem.
“The body, after the post mortem, was handed over to the family members”, the Range officer said.
