In a shocking incident, a woman allegedly committed suicide near Umerkote Community Health Centre in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district on Thursday by hanging herself from a tree.
The deceased has been identified as Manmati Bhatra of Borogan village under Umerkote block.
According to reports, Manmati admitted her son to Nutritional Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) in Umerkote CHC on August 24 who was suffering from severe malnutrition.
While his minor child was undergoing treatment at the centre, she went out of the hospital on the pretext of some work after handing over her son to a relative this morning. Moments later, her body was found hanging from a Teak near the hospital.
The reason behind the woman resorting to such extreme step was not ascertained.
“Manamati Bhatra had come to the hospital for treatment of her son on last Sunday. She committed suicide today by hanging herself from a Teak tree near the hospital with a saree. Police are probing into the incident after registering a case (39/16),” said Umerkote police station IIC Birendra Kumar Senapati.
