Veteran Bollywood actor and eminent Bharatnatyam danseuse Dr Vyjayanthimala Bali was conferred with the prestigious Guru Gangadhar Pradhan Lifetime Achievement Award on the concluding day of Konark Sangeet and Nrutya Utsav at Konark Natya Mandap here last night.
“I would remember this award and the event forever. The art and culture of Odisha are held in high esteem in the world. I extend my profound gratitude and admiration for the efforts of Sibasis Pradhan to fulfill the unfinished dream of his father and Padma Shri Guru Gangadhar Pradhan to stage an event like this. It is a matter of pride for me to receive the award named after the legendary guru”, Vyjayanthimala said after receiving the award.
Among others, Puri Gajapati king Divyasingh Deb, additional chief secretary, General Administration Srinibas Panigrahi, Director of the Gopabandhu Academy of Administration Ashok Tripathy, president of Konark Natya Mandap Shankaranand Giri, Mrs Sulochana Pradhan, wife of Guru Gangadhar Pradhan, chairman of Guru Gangadhar Pradhan Foundation Pankaj Lochan Mohanty and director of AGM Group Padmalochan Mohanty were present on the occasion.
Earlier, Vyjayanthimala visited Puri with her sister and had a darshan of the Trinity at Sri Jagannath temple in the morning.
