Bhubaneswar, Sept 10:
Two more persons were arrested by the Commissionerate Police on Tuesday in connection with the murder of Kalingaputra Real Estate and Developers managing director Krushna Chandra Nayak at IRC Village on August 12. They were forwarded to the court today, police said.
They police seized two mobile from the two arrested on Tuesday, identified as Santosh Padhiary (23) alias Nana of Dolamandap Sahi in Puri and Rajesh Kumar Barik (23) alias Pintu of Sahanikera village under Brahmagiri police limits in Puri district.
“We have arrested the duo after interrogating three persons on Monday. All the four accused involved in the murder case have now been arrested,” said Nayapalli Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) Anup Kanungo.
Earlier, the police had arrested two persons – Salila Patnaik alias Tarini and his friend Suraj Sharma alias Nepa – from Old Bhubaneswar area and had seized two pistols allegedly used in the killing along with bullets and a bike from their possession.
According to the police, the whole plan was executed by Nana, a land broker doing his business at several places like Cuttack, Puri, Nakhara and Bhubaneswar, under the direct supervision of Tarini. Nana had hired Pintu, who was working in Surat in Gujarat, to become a part of the murder plot. Tarini had given Rs 1 lakh to execute the plan, added the police.
Kanungo said the murder was the outcome of past rivalry between deceased Nayak and the main accused Tarini over a land dispute in Nayapalli area.
According to him, the deceased had attempted to murder Tarini on March 17, 2011 and had also killed his aide Mantu. To take revenge of the attack, Tarini was in search of an opportunity to kill Nayak, he added.
On August 12, according to the plan, Tarini and his aides Nepa and Pintu came in a bike and opened indiscriminate fire at the builder near a post office at the IRC Village here. Nayak died in the spot after receiving three bullet injuries – one on the left lower abdomen and was declared dead at the Apollo Hospital, Kanungo said.
