Vizianagaram/Jeypore: In a shocking incident, bodies of two members of an Odisha businessman’s family were recovered from a hotel in Vizianagaram today.
The highly decomposed bodies were recovered from a hotel in the neighbouring state.
The deceased have been identified as Jeypore-based businessman Radhanath Panda’s wife Shakuntala (65) and son Amit (48).
While the cause of deaths is yet to be ascertained, prima facie it revealed that they committed suicide.
Sources said the family had embarked on a pilgrimage to Puducherry on August 4 night where they were supposed to visit Sri Aurobindo Ashram.
It was yet to be established how they landed up in Vizianagaram.
Worth mentioning, Radhanath Panda – who had accompanied his family in the journey – was yet to be traced.
The family checked in to Hotel Vytla Residency in Vizianagaram where they had booked a four-bedded room.
On Saturday morning, the hotel staff noticed Radhanath Panda moving out of the hotel alone. He did not return to hotel thereafter.
Earlier on July 31, they had left for Bhubaneswar to attend ekadasaha (12th day) ceremony of a relative of Panda’s daughter-in-law. Sources added that they had told their neighbours in Jeypore that they are going to Puducherry to visit the ashram. Instead, they went to Bhubaneswar and then Vizianagaram.
