Cuttack: Months after Government Railway Police (GRP) landed in trouble over alleged sale of ganja in Cuttack, another incident came as a shocker with allegation of rape attempt lodged by a woman constable in GRP station.
Police lodged the case under sections 376, 511, 506, 294 and 34 of IPC on basis of the complaint filed by GRP woman police constable against her two senior officers.
The woman constable alleged two GRP personnel — Reserve Inspector and Assistant Armourer — of trying to rape her in her house on Saturday midnight.
According to reports, when the woman constable was sleeping at her house, Reserve Inspector Ashok Kumar Sethy and Assistant Armourer Arabinda Mallick knocked at her door at around 1 am on Saturday. When she woke up and asked the reason of midnight visit to her, they asked to open the door. After she opened the door, they attempted to rape her. When she shouted, both threatened to kill her and fled the spot.
The victim lodged the complaint with GRP in Cuttack against her two officers.
On the basis of complaint by woman constable, the GRP has handed over the case to two women police officers for probe.
The probe team visited the victim’s house on Sunday and found injury mark on her body and seized her clothes that were torn up during the incident.
In a statement Cuttack railway SP Sanjay Koushal said, “A case has been registered against two GRP officers for allegedly trying to rape the woman constable”.
Entire episode will come to fore following probe, he added.
Earlier, a senior officer in Cuttack GRP was allegedly involved in disappearance of ganja worth Rs 13 lakh on May 7.
