Bhawanipatna, Jan 3:

Police on Thursday interrogated two persons who were detained on Wednesday in connection with the palm chopping case in Kalahandi, which has led to nationwide outrage.

In a joint raid, Bhawanipatna police and the Khariar police nabbed Jaysan Kata and his son Pustam Kata (18) of Kotamal village under Khariar police limits, Kalahandi Superintendent of Police Sarthak Sarangi told reporters here on Thursday. He said that the duo would be arrested after their involvement in the case is established.

Police had earlier arrested Parvesh Duni, a labour contractor, Bana Majhi, Baikuntha Raut, Arjun Bag and Gangadhar Das, the driver of the vehicle.

The miscreants had chopped off the palms of two migrant labourers Nilambar Dhangra Majhi (37) of Nuagudagaon village and Dayalu Nial (19) of Pipalgada village under Jaipatna block of Kalahandi district on December 15 after they refused to work under the contractor who had hired them.
