Odisha police arrested two persons, including a priest, on Tuesday for their alleged complicity in planting a crude bomb in the Jagyan Kunda (auspicious fire) in Matipitula village of Bhadrak district.
According to police, the villagers of Matipitula had arranged a Jagyan on the auspicious day to celebrate Mahashivratri, replacing their usual priest Prabhakar Mishra for the rituals as he demanded more money.
Angered by this Prabhakar in association with Prabhat Ranjan Rout of the nearby village planted a crude bomb in the Jagya Kunda with malice in mind.
The bomb went off as intended harming two devotees in the process.
Bhadrak Rural Police has started further investigations into the case registering a case under IPC 145/16 against both the miscreants.
