Bhubaneswar, Jul 13:
Commissionerate police today arrested a driver and a petty contractor, both staying at the official residence of Remuna MLA in Balasore district Govinda Das in MLA colony in Unit-IV area under Kharvela Nagar police limits in Odisha Capital, for allegedly molesting a woman who, along with her father, stayed at the MLA’s house last night.
The accused, identified as Dillip Behera of Baisinga in Keonjhar district and Parameswar Das of Chandipur in Balasore district, were forwarded to a local court here today.
While Dillip was working as a driver for the MLA, Parameswar is a contractor staying at his residence.
According to Inspector-in-charge (IIC) of Kharvela Nagar police station Sanjeev Satpathy, the woman who hails from Gopalpur in Balasore, had come to the city on Sunday morning with her father to attend a postal examination.
After completion of the examination, she and her father reached the Unit-IV quarters of the MLA to meet him. They decided to stay the night at his house after finding that the MLA was absent. Late on Sunday night, Dillip and Parameswar reached the MLA quarters and knocked on the door.
“The accused first threw a torch-light through the window of the room in which the father and daughter were sleeping and then knocked on the door. When the woman opened the door, the accused person molested her and simultaneously attacked her father who tried to oppose their act,” the IIC said.
Soon after the incident, the father and daughter went to the local police station and lodged an FIR against the accused.
“Today we arrested Dillip and Parameswar from the MLA quarters in Unit-IV area and have forwarded them to a court here today. Investigation is still open,” added the IIC.
