Bhubaneswar: Acid attack survivor Pramodini Roul finally got the most memorable moment of her life as she got engaged to her long-time beau Saroj Sahoo on the Valentine’s Day in Lucknow amid much fanfare.

The engagement ceremony was held at ‘Sheroes Hangout Cafe’ in Lucknow, which is run by the “Stop Acid Attack Campaign”.

The couple was seen enjoying every moment with dancing on popular Hindi songs ‘Dil Diya Gallan’ among others for the Big Day. Another group of 20 acid attack survivors too joined the couple.

“I love dancing and used to dance before the attack on me,” said Pramodidni with dreams in her eyes.

The parents of Pramodidni and Saroj were present on the occasion to bless the couple.

Worth mentioning, the acid attack survivor found her love while she was undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Cuttack and had never imagined that someone will propose her.

Saroj, a medicine representative by profession, who was a friend of Pramodini’s nurse, entered her life as an angel, who made her feel the best things to happen in her life. They fell in love with each other.

Love is eternal and the love story of Promodini and Saroj will continue to inspire the generations.

The couple wants to organise their engagement ceremony at Sheroes Hangout Cafe where many acid attack survivors are working along with Pramodini, to encourage them to move forward in life.

Notably, Pramodini lost her eyesight and turned blind in the horrific acid attack over one-sided love affair when she was only 16.

Jilted lover Santosh, a paramilitary soldier, allegedly threw acid on Pramodini while she was returning to her uncle’s house at Tirtol on April 18, 2009.

She underwent a series of surgeries at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack but attempts went in vain and she could not retrieve her eyesight.

Recently, Pramodini had undergone a surgery following which she is now able to see her world through one eye.

Odisha police managed to the prime accused after eight years in November 2017 to give her justice.
