Three cricketers from Odisha have got calls to participate in the nets for selections for the upcoming T20 Cricket for Blind World Cup scheduled to begin from January 28 next.

According to sources, Sukhram Majhi, Nakul Badanayak and Mohammad Zafar Iqbal have been intimated to join the nets at Ernakulam.

“Three Odisha cricketers have been shortlisted to participate in the nets. The nets would begin from December 4 at Ernakulam,” said Chandrasekhar Patnaik, coach.

While Sukhram and Nakul belong to Koraput, Zafar hails from Bhubaneswar.

India will be hosting the T20 Cricket World Cup for the Blind at nine different centres from January 28 to February 12. The tourney will be organised by the Cricket Association for the Blind in India.

Pakistan, England, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal are the participating nations. The matches would be held at various locations including in Bhubaneswar.

Defending champions India are the favourites as they have the advantage of playing in home grounds. Of the four world cups played, South Africa had won the inaugural trophy beating Pakistan in 1998. The second and third editions were won by Pakistan in 2002 and 2006.
