Tension prevailed in Purana Bazaar Nangamahala village area in Bhadrak, even after the arrest of three juveniles, in the kidnap and murder of a six-year-old boy in Odisha.
Police have arrested three juveniles, the main accused and two of his accompliances in the kidnap and murder of a six-year old boy in Purana Bazaar area in Bhadrak.
While, three others out of the six youths detained under suspicion on Thursday have been released due to lack of evidence.
Angry locals had burnt tires, blocked roads and gheraoed the Purana Bazaar police station yesterday, they were protesting the release of the three others detained by police earlier.
Today crowds have broken and ransacked the houses of the three arrested minors.
“There is an attempt to instigate violence by some unsocial elements. But the situation is under control now. We have pressed two platoons of police, who will be deployed in all the main roads and chowks. More forces are also awaited,” a senior police official said.
As the three accused are minors they had been forwarded to the Juvenile Correction Home at Angul, on Friday.
Money might be the main motive behind the murder according to police sources.
“The main accused, Seikh Qadir wanted to buy a motorcycle and a laptop but his father did not have enough money to fulfil his desires. After watching films the idea of kidnapping and ransom came into his mind. When he did not get the required money he strangled the boy to death”, a police source has said.
The body of the six year-old boy, Shaikh Shanwar Husain was recovered from the prime accused Seikh Qadir’s house after the police launched a search operation for the boy missing since Wednesday.
Shaikh Iddu, a native of Nangamahala village, had lodged a complaint in the Purana Bazaar police station about his son, who had gone missing since 5 pm on Wednesday. He had said in his complaint that someone had demanded Rs 6 lakhs ransom to release his son.
The police found the child’s body from a room inside the house of a kidnapper, in the Purana Bazaar police station, on Thursday and had detained 6 persons on suspicion.
