Three housing projects for weaker sections in city

With a view to providing affordable houses to the economically weaker sections (EWS) in the capital city, the Odisha government has embarked on three housing projects at a total investment of Rs 236  crore.

Chief minister Naveen Patnaik laid the foundation stone of these three state-owned housing projects in the city here on Sunday.

The government has identified three locations at Subudhipur, Kalinga Nagar K-4 Zone and K-9 Zone on the outskirt of Bhubaneswar where a total of 2,088 dwelling units would be built for the EWS, Low Income Group (LIG) and Low and Middle Income Groups (LMIG).

Rs 165 crore has already been earmarked for Subudhipur housing project, where 1600 units will be constructed on seven acres of land.

The Kalinga Nagar K-4 Zone housing project for the EWS would come up on 34.51 acres of land at an estimated cost of Rs 58 crore. However, the exact number of housing units has not been finalized.

In the K-9 Zone, a four-storey building project will come up on 1.59 acres of land at an estimated cost of Rs 13 crore, official sources said.
