Odisha Sun Times Sports Bureau
Cuttack, May 10:

Table-toppers Kings XI Punjab, riding high on the Maxwell-Miller run machines, will take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Barabati stadium in Odisha’s old capital city of Cuttack on Sunday.

The last time they met, it was a low-scoring match that went in KXIP’s favour.

With Maxwell and Miller in awesome form, the KKR bowlers will surely find it hard to contain the run machines. However, for all you know, the wonder spinner Sunil Narine could prove a handful for the duo.KXIP-KKR

In their last duel with KXIP, KKR bowlers had managed to rein in the destroyers in the Punjab batting line-up. But will they be able to repeat that feat ? That is a question which will be answered on Sunday evening.

Although the KKR has not been consistent this IPL season, the win over Delhi Daredevils in their previous match has rejuvenated them. Also, skipper Gautam Gambhir’s return to form in the last match has come as a good news for the team. If he along with Robin Uthappa , Manish Pandey and Surya Yadav click on Sunday KKR has may as well hope to turn the tables in this unpredictable format of the game.

Menacing as they appear, the KXIP batsmen have a formidable bowling line up to contend with. Besides Sunil Narine, you have Shakib, Morkel, Vinay Kumar, Pyush Chawla, Umesh Yadav and allrounders Jacques Kallis and Yusuf Pathan.

Among the KXIP pacers Sandeep Sharma is in good form and could cause some worry to the KKR batters Mitchell Johnson, Balaji, Awana and Murli Kartik too are capable of giving KKR a run for their money.

The Barabati pitch supports cloud bursts as we saw in the KXIP-CSK clash the other night. But it could also produce a low scoring match for all you know. Then there is a threatening sky pregnant with black clouds to play the spoilsport !

In any case, if you are a diehard KXIP or Preity Zinta fan, take our advice : it is safer to keep your finger crossed than take things for granted.
