The toll in the devastating SUM Hospital fire has risen to 30 with a person succumbing to injuries at a private hospital in Odisha capital today.
The deceased identified as Pradyumna Kumar Nanda from Keonjhar breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Apollo Hospitals here.
According to reports, Nanda was shifted to Capital hospital after the fire broke out at Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM hospital on the fateful night.
Later, he was later shifted to Apollo hospitals where he succumbed while undergoing treatment.
It may be recalled here that 19 patients undergoing treatment at the SUM Hospital had died due to asphyxiation owing to the massive fire on October 17 which originated from the dialysis ward on the first floor and spread to the ICU on the same floor. In the incident, over 100 others sustained injuries and were shifted to various government and private hospitals.
