Amid rush of people at banks for depositing demonetized Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes, the Khordha Town police today arrested a student while he was trying to deposit fake currency notes of Rs 47,000 at State Bank of India here.
The arrested was identified as identified as Sumit Kumar Tudu.
According to reports, Tudu was attempting to deposit an amount of Rs 2.5 lakh at the bank out of which Rs 42,000 in denominations of Rs 1000 and Rs 5,000 in denominations of Rs 500 were counterfeit notes.
As per Tudu’s statement, the money belongs to his brother and he had come to the bank to deposit the amount in his father’s account.
