Bhadrak, Apr 12:
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, who visited Bhadrak today to review the situation in the violence-hit town, said the state government will take strong action against those creating discord in name of religion.
Patnaik held a review meeting at the district collectorate where Home Secretary, DGP, RDC and Collector were present.
“All accused persons responsible for the violent incidents will be punished as per law. Further, our state government will take strong steps to counter the divisive forces creating discord and violence in the name of religion and bringing misery to the peace loving people of Odisha,” the Chief Minister said after the meeting.
Patnaik also said that full compensation will be paid to the people affected in the violence.
“Wherever damage has been done, full compensation will be paid to the concerned people,” he said.
New vending zones will be set up to rehabilitate affected street vendors in the town, he added.
The CM has ordered officials for assessment of the damages within 3 days.
“Detailed damage assessment to be submitted in the next three days so that financial assistance can be sanctioned for livelihood restoration,” Patnaik said.
Earlier in the day, Patnaik arrived in Bhadrak in a special chopper which landed at Nehru Stadium here. He then interacted with the people of Apartibindha, Chandan Bazar and Old town areas amid tight security.
