After international steel major ArcelorMittal bowing out from the state and South Korean steel maker Posco deciding to put its 12 MTPA greenfield mega steel project near Paradip on hold, a worried Odisha government has planned for an image makeover to woo investors to the state.
The state government has roped in famous marketing communication agency J Walter Thompson (JWT) to promote ‘Brand Odisha’, to become an ‘Investment Destination of Choice’ in global industries and investment map.
Industries principal secretary Sanjeeb Chopra today made a presentation on promoting ‘Brand Odisha’ at the state secretariat here in presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, said official sources.
The presentation outlined that Odisha has a mission to maximize its untapped economic potential by leveraging its strength in focus sectors.
The state government has identified five sectors -downstream and ancillary, textile, Electronic System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM), food processing and plastics, chemicals & petrochemicals as focus sectors for ‘ease of doing business’, it has abundant resources and has relatively low cost of setting up and running business.
Odisha Vision 2019 aims for industrial development through manufacturing.It has the objective for 60 percent increase in manufacturing sector.
Substantiating Odisha’s ambitious objective, it was stated that the state has 18 percent share in India’s FDI proposals, it is the largest steel producer in India and Bhubaneswar has been ranked as safest state capital to live in.
A striking logo is also being designed for Brand Odisha, an official revealed.
