Bhubaneswar, Aug 13:
With only a day to go for the 70th Independence Day celebrations, full dress rehearsal was conducted today at the Mahatma Gandhi road of Odisha capital where state level celebration is scheduled to be conducted.
Overall, 64 troupes will participate in the state level Independence Day parade this year. However, no civilian troupe will be part of it.
For the first time, two platoons of forces from Andhra Pradesh will be part of the parade here.
Quite like last year, daredevil motorbike show, horse riding and skating will be at the centre of attraction this year.
Security arrangements have been tightened in view of the celebrations. CCTVs have been set up across key junctions of the city and at the event venue. As many as 50 CCTVs have been set up to monitor the road connecting Master Canteen with Rabindra Mandap.
Three control rooms have also been set up to monitor traffic and other activities, said the police.
“The full dress rehearsal was conducted today. We have taken adequate security arrangements for the event. Special arrangements have been made to manage crowd, traffic, parking and VIP security. We have also taken necessary precautions to counter terrorists and Maoist threats,” said police DG KB Singh.
“The DCP will supervise the operations here. Besides, seven ACPs, about 50 inspectors, about 150 sub-inspectors and 35 platoons of forces will be deployed to ensure an incident free event. Further, two Quick Response Team (QRT) teams and Special Operations Group (SOG) will also be deployed,” he added.
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik would hoist the tricolor and take the ceremonial salute at the state level ceremony here on Monday morning.
