The meeting of working committee of the Board of Cricket Control in India has begun at the hotel Mayfair Lagoon here .The BCCI president N Srinivasan, 24 members of the working committee and invitees are attending the meeting.
The President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) N Srinivasan arrived in the state capital here this morning.
The meeting is likely to shortlist two prospective countries as alternative venues for the seventh edition of the IPL which is coinciding with the general elections.
While South Africa is the front-runner to host the seventh season of IPL, United Arab Emirates (UAE) is also among the countries being considered for the event to be held in between April 9 to June 3, the sources added.
BCCI would announce a final decision an the alternative location after the Central government announces the dates of the general elections.
As per the agenda, the report of the last IPL governing council meeting will be placed before the working committee. The committee will then recommend a couple of alternative locations which would be forwarded to the IPL governing council, OCA sources said.
Besides, the working committee meeting would also review the report of the three-member selection committee that reviewed the available infrastructure facilities at Barabati stadium in Cuttack yesterday to accord the stadium a permanent Test venue status.
The selection committee, after inspecting the stadium yesterday, expressed its satisfaction on the available infrastructure at Barabati stadium.
The committee is also likely to consider the proposals for the extension of the tenure of team and bowling coaches, sources said.
