Bhubaneswar, Apr 24:
A day after claiming “no scope to act against me“, BJD Vice President and Odisha Excise Minister Damodar Rout today made a volte-face and said that speaking against party line should be considered indiscipline.
“Congress leader Lalatendu Bidyadhar Mohapatra (Lulu) and Sanjay Das Burma are political opponents. Both belong to the Brahmagiri assembly constituency. It is unfair, if Lulu Mohapatra is defaming Sanjay to reap political benefits. The issue is under investigation by CBI. If Lulu has any evidence against Sanjay, why doesn’t he submit it to the CBI? Making allegations and counter-allegations might disrupt the investigation,” said Rout speaking to reporters on the ongoing Sanjay-Lulu feud.
He went on to add that the leaders of the party should stick to the party line and making statements against the party or its leaders should be considered indiscipline.
Pressed further to explain what made him take a U-turn in less than a day, Rout shot back, “The world keeps changing. What is wrong if I changed?”
Political analysts, however, pointed out that BJD Spokespersons had repeatedly warned of disciplinary action indirectly and that could have been the reason behind the change in stance overnight.
