At least six persons were missing after a boat carrying around 60 devotees capsized in Brahmani river in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district this afternoon.
According to reports, a boat carrying around 60 persons from Surapratappur village under Bhuban block in the district left Chandipal Ghat. The passengers were going to Daudeswar Shiva temple in Gondia by water route to participate in the Mahashivratri festival.
However, the overloaded boat capsized soon after leaving the Chandipal Ghat. While six of them were missing, two women were rescued in a critical condition, sources said.
Meanwhile, efforts are on to rescue the missing persons.
“Operations have begun to rescue the missing passengers,” Manoj Kumar Behera, Kamakhyanagar Sub Collector said.
