Bhubaneswar, Feb 3:
SOA QuizWiz, now reckoned as one of the foremost quiz contests in the country, was won by Saransh Mohapatra and Jyoti Prakash Panda, a team from city-based Silicon Institute of Technology, on Sunday.
SOA QuizWiz, open nationwide to undergraduate students, is organised by the Siksha O Anusandhan University.
The Silicon duo staved off a determined challenge from Siddhant Agarwal and Sudipto Mitra, representing the Presidency University in Kolkata, in tie-breaker to win the first prize of Rs 1 lakh and a trophy.
The first runner-up pocketed a prize money of Rs 60,000 and trophies while Sheikh Wasim Sajjad and Nishant Nihar from NIT, Rourkela, finished second runner-up winning Rs 40,000 and trophies.
Six teams, the other three representing College of Engineering and Technology, KIIT University and IIIT, Bhubaneswar made it to the final round after a preliminary test.
Mumbai’s renowned quizmaster Dhananjay Shettigar conducted the quiz.
Besides the six teams, contestants from IIT, NISER and AIIMS, all from Bhubaneswar, SOA University, Ravenshaw University, BJB College and many other educational institutions took part in the competition.
Parthasarathi Mishra, Chief HR Manager of Tata Steel, gave away the prizes.
Among others, Prof DP Ray, advisor to the president of SOA University and Debasish Panda of Titan graced the function.
