Bhawanipatana: Breaking her silence, Pallishree Patnaik, a lecturer in a government college and writer, today lodged a complaint with the police against acclaimed Odia litterateur Haraprasad Das alleging she was harassed by Das.
Pallishree lodged an FIR with Bhawanipatana Town police station seeking stern action against the noted writer.
In her complaint, she alleged that Das had first befriend her on Facebook and then start sending indecent messages and sought sexual favours on the pretext of boosting her literary career.
“I was mentally and socially harassed by Das and, now, planning to file a defamation suit against him in the court,” Pallishree told reporters.
She sought police help three days after Das filed a defamation case in a Bhubaneswar court against eight persons including Pallishree.
“A complaint was lodged by her (Pallishree) today alleging she was mentally harassed as Das had sent indecent messages to her on Facebook,” said Bhawanipatana PS Inspector-In-Charge S.N. Sathpathy.
Notably, on August 1, the literary circle of the State was abuzz a group of intellectuals led by former Vice-Chancellor of Utkal Culture University, Bimalendu Mohanty and senior journalist Pradosh Patnaik met State Commission for Women (SCW) alleging Das had sexually harassed some women writers including Pallishree.
Following this, the SCW had started a suo motu investigation into the matter.
