Cuttack, May 29:
From the current academic year Ravenshaw University in Odisha has decided to do way with self-financing courses, which were until now running under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
Ravenshaw University registrar P K Jena in a release issued here today said henceforth, courses like ITM, BBM, JMC, IST, ETC and HHA would be run by the university itself from 2014-2015 academic year.
The University Grants Commission (UGC) in November last year had firmly instructed all universities not to run these courses with private participation, Jena pointed out in the release.
Jena said the Governor who is the chancellor of the university had also asked them to adhere to the November 2013 guidelines of the UGC.
The registrar’s release also informed that a local court, while adjudicating in a case recently, had authorised the Ravenshaw University to run these courses independently on its own.
Jena urged the students and parents not to get carried away by advertisements issued by some people with regard to these courses with the intention to create disturbance and confusion.
Two private organisations were running these courses for over a decade, sources said.
