New Delhi, Sep 23:

Chairperson of the State Commission for Women (SCW) Lopamudra Buxipatra and BJD MP Renubala Pradhan today visited Odia lady social activist Linkon Subudhi at a private hospital in Noida where she was admitted in a critical condition on Saturday after being brutally assaulted for opposing the forced marriage of a minor girl.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik had directed the Resident Commissioner of Odisha in New Delhi to ensure proper medical attention to Linkon. He has also asked the Resident Commissioner to co-ordinate with the Delhi Government to ensure the immediate arrest of the would be groom, the main accused in the case.

A team from the National Commission for Women (NCW) also visited Linkon at the hospital today, sources told OST.

Meanwhile, national general secretary of BJP Dharmendra Pradhan today condemned the brutal attack on the social activist.

Pradhan visited Kailash Hospital in Noida today to inquire about the condition of the Bhubaneswar girl, an IT professional who works for the welfare of underprivileged children in Noida.

Expressing concern over the brutal attack, Pradahn also talked to Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav requesting him to take action against the culprits.

Subudhi had to undergo 25 stitches after being brutally assaulted with a knife and bricks by the mother of the girl and the would-be groom, who is reportedly thrice her age. While the mother has been arrested, the hunt for the ‘groom’ is on.
