The Odisha government today ordered to keep all schools, colleges, universities and other educational institutions across 12 districts closed till Monday beginning today in view of the situation arisisng out of incessant rains and floods in these districts, the Special Relief Commissioner PK Mohapatra told OST.
The districts are Gajapati, Ganjam, Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, Kandhamal, Kendrapara, Puri, Balasore, Nayagarh, Khurda, Bhadrak and Jagatsinghpur.
The decision has been taken as floods and heavy downpour for the last five days have caused severe damage to the infrastucture of schools and colleges and currently these are being used as shelters by the affected people, Mohapatra said.
However, the earlier order of the government extending Puja vacations of schools and colleges till November 4 in Ganjam district remains effective, the SRC said.
