In a significant development, leading vernacular daily Sambad in association with Wikipedia is set to organise a 100 edit-a-thon by women editors to mark the International Women’s Month in Odisha.
This will be first 100 women edit-a-thon event in India where 15-20 women journalists will join in editing the write-up of 100 successful women personalities of Odisha.
The women journalists working with Sambad group will participate in the large scale women edit-a-thons scheduled on March 18 and 19. The write-up will be placed on Wikipedia (or.wikipedia.org).
The write-up will be edited after compiling the data collected from Sambad Archive and Women Studies department of Utkal University.
On the first day of two-day event, the women participants will be taught about the Wikipedia write-up style. The write-up will be prepared next day.
Under supervision of Sambad’s Executive Director Tanaya Patnaik, the event will be managed by Odia Wikipedia’s Shailesh Patnaik and Chinmayee Mishra and Researcher Pingi Chang.
Earlier, the 100 women edit-a-thon event was held at various offices of BBC in partnership with Wikipedia in 2016 in multiple languages.
