Bhubaneswar: With life moving at a break-neck speed, personal grooming takes a backseat at times. Moreover, with the ongoing wedding season, spa and beauty salons in the city are racing the clock to fulfill the demands of the wedding brigade and winter skincare clientele.
On-call beauticians are not unheard of in Odisha, though. Barbers and masseurs in villages of Odisha were known to make home-calls for haircuts, body massages and beard shavings though it is a fast disappearing tradition in the state today. There are beauty parlours in the city who offer doorstep services, though not exclusively.
From waxing to massages, facials to hair spa along intensive skin and hair care treatments, on-the-move beauty parlours offer a wide range of services, where beauty professionals pamper you in the comfort of your home.
“Generally, salons in Bhubaneswar make home-calls in case of bridal make-up and not for regular manicure-pedicure-facial regimen. However, if a client orders for services worth Rs. 5000 and above, then we send our beautician to them, instead of the client visiting us,” said Anu, propreiter of Urbana Salon and Spa in Shaheed Nagar.
Pre-bridal packages (that include all kinds of waxing, facials, body massages and polishing, etc.) and bridal make-up (with saree drapping, make-up, hair and accessorising) are services that have the maximum number of takers and are mostly done in the comfort of the client’s home.
To fill in this gap, an innovative start-up in the city, called Polished is now providing all the amenities and facilities of a salon and spa, exclusively at the doorstep!
“We get about 18-20 appointments in a day. Our professionals have a minimum of 5-6 years of experience. We make sure, we stock a wide range of products such as Moroccan Oil, Forest Essentials, NYKAA and Schwarzkopf to name a few, according to the requirement and preference of the clients. Our prices are inclusive of taxes for every service, as compared to other salons in Bhubaneswar. Our offers on combined services are incredibly pocket-friendly,” said Priya, the manager of Polished.
