Bhubaneswar, Feb 5:
The state wing of CPI today declared that its lone MLA Adikanda Sethy will support BJD-backed Independent candidate Raghunath Mohapatra, who is contesting against Congress candidate Ranjib Biswal for the fourth Rajya Sabha seat.
The decision was taken at the state secretariat of CPI, which held its meeting to deliberate on the issue, state CPI secretary Dibakar Nayak told media persons here.
“The party has taken a decision to support Mohapatra in the Rajya Sabha polls,” said Nayak.
The decision was entirely along expected lines as the party has been an ally of the BJD in the state and the alliance is likely to continue in the ensuing elections.
However, Mohapatra has to muster the support of 11 more MLAs to cherish his dream of getting elected to the Rajya Sabha.
