Bhubaneswar, Dec 23:
A 14-member delegation of Odisha BJP today met Governor SC Jamir seeking an impartial enquiry to the Rishi murder incident and its connection with a sex tape allegedly featuring Bhubaneswar Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena.
Led by Odisha BJP President Basant Panda, the delegates cited complacency on part of the police under influence of the State Government and sought the intervention of the Governor in getting an impartial enquiry done.
Besides, they apprised him of the recent violence by ruling party members during the Bhubaneswar bandh and demanded the ouster of Mayor Jena.
“We came here to meet the Governor as the police and the State Government have failed to act in the Rishi murder incident. We demand an impartial probe into the incident. We also demand the ouster of Bhubaneswar Mayor as he is using his office to influence the police investigation,” said Panda speaking to reporters after meeting the Governor.
“We suspect both Rishi’s uncle and another official of Women and Child Development Department to be involved in the murder. Only an impartial enquiry will be able to expose the truth. However, given the involvement of powerful politicians of ruling party, we seek the resignation of Bhubaneswar Mayor Anant Jena,” said BJP Spokesperson Golak Prasad Mohapatra.
Meanwhile, Congress today continued its demonstration in front of the BMC office demanding the resignation of Jena.
