Eminent painter, writer and art historian of Odisha Dr Dinanath Pathy has been nominated for the prestigious international award by the Switzerland-based Rietberg Society in recognition of his profound contributions to research on the Indian art history and his lifetime dedication to the field of art as a painter and chronicler.
The Rietberg Award 2014 carrying a cash prize of 10,000 Swiss Franc and a copper plaque, would be conferred on Dr Pathy by the Director of Rietberg Museum in Zurich Dr Albert Lutz in the presence of the President of Rietberg Society Dr Eberhard Fischer and head of South East Asian Art Collection Dr Johannes Beltz on June 4.
Pathy has had a long association with Museum Rietberg in Zurich, Switzerland.
Emeritus Professor of Punjab University and art historian Brajendranath Goswami and curator of the New York-based Metropolitan Museum Prof Milo Cleveland Beach have been conferred with this prestigious award earlier.
A former secretary of Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi and Bhubaneswar as well as former principal of BK College of Art and Crafts in Bhubaneswar, Dr Pathy is currently working on various projects of documentation of the art and artists of the state.
