Relief reaches Dongria Kondhs in Odisha’s Rayagada


Rayagada: Relief reached the Dongria Kondh tribals in Odisha’s Rayagada district bringing much respite to the villagers who were marooned due to floods in Kalyani river.

While dry food stuffs were air dropped with the help of a Donier aircraft of the Coast Guard, cooked food were supplied to the Dongria Kondhs inhabiting at Kalyansinghpur in the district.

Notably, the chopper was pressed into service as two villages of Niyamgiri hills were cut off due to flash flood post torrential rains since last couple of days.

A bridge over river Kalyani was washed away due to the floods leaving at least 4,000 members of the indigenous tribe cut off from the other parts.
