New Delhi: Good news for people of western Odisha, the Ministry of Railways has decided to run a New Delhi-Bhubaneswar Rajdhani Express via Sambalpur soon.
This was announced by Union Railways Minister Piyush Goyal after his meeting with Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here today.
“The Ministry of Railways has decided to very soon commence Rajdhani train between Delhi and Bhubaneswar via Sambalpur,” announced Goyal while briefing reporters after his meeting with Chief Minister Patnaik.
“We are working on the logistics,” he added.
The Railways Minister discussed critical issues of land acquisition, the law and order situation and the permission for forest clearances for ongoing and future railway line projects in the state during his discussions with Patnaik.
“Amongst the various other lines that were discussed are critical issues about land acquisition, the law and order situation and the permissions for forest clearances,” said Goyal.
Chief Minister Patnaik said that he had a long discussion with the Railways Minister and had impressed upon him on the various demands of the State vis-à-vis railways.
“I had a long discussion with the Railways Minister and have impressed upon him to commence work on the Jeypore-Nabarangpur and Jeypore-Malkangiri railway line at the earliest; sanction a railway line between Puri and Konark; redevelop 11 railway stations in Odisha as identified by the Railways earlier and re-commissioning of Paralakhemundi and Kashi Nagar railway stations on Nuapada-Gunupur line,” informed Patnaik to reporters after his meeting with the Railways Minister.
The Chief Minister claimed to have urged the Railways Minister to expedite completion of Angul-Sukinda and Haridaspur-Paradip lines and sought approval for running passenger trains on these routes.
Patnaik urged the Railway Minister to expedite work on the ongoing lines and capacity augmentation projects in the State.
The Chief Minister apart from demanding Rajdhani Express from Bhubaneswar via Sambalpur sought for introduction of Buxi Jagabandhu Express from Khurda Road to Mumbai via Sambalpur and extend Howrah-Bhubaneswar Jan Shatabdi Express to Nayagarh town.
