Paradip, Aug 14:
After being on the run for over eight months, Odisha police today finally managed to arrest the main accused in the murder of a de-addiction centre counsellor-cum-caretaker on the outskirts of Odisha capital on December 29 last year.
According to reports, the prime accused identified as Partha Sarathi Nayak was arrested by Paradip police today for his alleged involvement in the killing of counsellor-cum-caretaker Sumit Ranjan Behera.
Police have seized Rs 10,000 cash and six mobile phones from his possession.
It may be recalled that Sumit was working with a de-addiction centre—Prayas– at Naharkanta since 2010.
Some of the inmates wanted to celebrate Christmas and New Year celebrations outside the centre which was rejected by Behera.
On December 29, the 20-year-old was tied up, beaten before being strangulated to death to get away from the Centre. The counsellor had to pay with his life for resisting the inmates who were demanding for the keys to escape from the facility. Following the incident, around 36 of the 45 inmates of the de-addiction facility ran away.
