Berhampur, Mar 28:
Former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Prakash Mishra took charge as advisor to Uttarakhand Governor Krishna Kant Paul, on Sunday.
Mishra had retired as Director General, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on February 29, 2016. The 1977 batch Odisha cadre IPS, was appointed as Odisha DGP earlier.
Notably, the Supreme Court of India had quashed an Odisha government appeal challenging the June 19 High Court order quashing the vigilance case against Mishra on August 17, 2015.
It may be noted that the state government, in its FIR, had charged Mishra with favouring some suppliers during his tenure as the CMD of Odisha Police Housing and Welfare Corporation between 2006-7 and 2009-10.
Mishra had challenged this move in the High Court of Odisha seeking quashing of the case.
Notably, President Rule was promulgated in Uttarakhand on Saturday after a nine-day political unrest prevailed in the State.
