Cuttack, Dec 8:
2014 certainly is a bad year for Odisha film industry and more so far comic actors. A month and half after comedienne Runu and days after veteran Biren Routray, popular comic actress Jyotsna Satpathy, better known in her screen name of Mamina, left for her heavenly abode on Monday evening.
Like Runu, Mamina felt sudden pain in her chest and passed away while being taken to the hospital. In both cases, it was massive cardiac arrest that consumed them. Like her fellow traveller again, she died very young: she was all of 48.
Mamina, who had acted in nearly 70 films, ruled the screens with popular comci actor Jaiyee in the 1980s. Unlike Runu, however, Mamina also excelled in negative roles. She gave her best performance in ‘Chha Mana Atha Guntha’ directed by Parvati Ghosh.
She was also a popular actress in television.
Soon after the news of her death spread, a large number of film and television personalities gathered at her residence to pay their last respects to the departed soul.
