Bhubaneswar, Jul 17:
The Odisha High Court today issued notices to the Chief Secretary and Shri Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) chief administrator based on a petition not to politicise the ritual mismanagement pertaining to Nabakalebara festival in Puri.
Adjudicating over a PIL, the High Court served notices on Chief Secretary Gokul Chandra Pati and SJTA chief administrator Suresh Chandra Mohapatra.
The petitioner, Aswini Nayak, quoted that various parties have politicised the mismanagement of the Nabakalebara rituals during ghat parivartan (transfer of souls) of the deities. The turn of events have hurt the religious sentiments of scores of people, it said.
In another development, the High Court today reserved its verdict on the suspension of servitors’ issue while hearing the petition filed by suspended father-son duo Kasinath Dasmahapatra and his son Jayakrushna.
However, the bench refused to grant them any interim relief. It said “no interim order over the issue at this stage is necessary.”
Justice Dr A K Rath completed the hearing of the pleas of the suspended servitors and reserved the verdict.
It may be recalled that the suspended servitors’ had moved the HC challenging SJTA decision over the ‘Brahma Parivartan’ fiasco.
