Bhubaneswar, Aug 31:
Tension ran high at Trahi Achyuta ashram at Jhiinti Sasan under Balipatna police station limits on the outskirts of the Odisha capital this morning after the police resorted to mild lathi charge on the people.
According to reports, the irate locals arrived at the ashram this morning and set fire to ashram properties and some bikes.
Following information, Bhubaneswar DCP Satyabrata Bhoi rushed to the spot. Though the police made a mike announcement requesting the locals to maintain law and order, the unrelenting mob did not pay any heed and pelted stones at the DCP’s vehicle forcing the police to resort to mild lathi-charge to disperse them.
Meanwhile, the chief servitor of the ashram informed a local TV channel that the manuscript (pothi) kept at the ashram, has gone missing.
“The manuscript might have been burnt by the mob who had ransacked the ashram last night,” he added.
