Bhubaneswar: Security has been tightened in Maoist-affected districts of Odisha in view of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) week of the red rebels starting from today.
As precautionary measure, plying of buses in several routes of Rayagada, Kandhamal and Malkangiri districts have been suspended. Besides, high alert has been sounded in Malkangiri district.
Combing operations have been intensified in the districts in order to avoid any untoward incident. Frisking of vehicles are also being conducted at major entry points.
Worth mentioning, the Maoists have set up a permanent camp ahead of observance of the week. The rebels have constructed a building painted in red colour in a remote area near Totaguda village in Jantri panchayat of Chitrakonda area in Malkangiri.
Sources said, Maoist leader Samara and his wife will be in charge of the management of the office.
The Maoists are planning to recruit tribal youths of the remote and inaccessible parts and involve them in the organisation during the PLGA week, which will conclude on Dec 8.
